I am a professional Spanish or Portuguese to English translator and Spanish/English/Spanish interpreter and have worked as a translator/interpreter for 40+ years.
My translation subjects include chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electronics, railways and transport, steel, hardware/software, printing, papermaking, automotive, industrial in general, geology, geophysics, metallurgy, patents, environment, commercial, manuals, tenders, legal (for information), general, etc, etc.
As an interpreter I have worked in many varied situations, for example: down mines, on industrial building roofs, in scientific and industrial laboratories of many kinds, in various workshop types, pilot plants, steelworks, fabricating plants, engine-testing facilities, railway locomotive lubrication, coldstore installations, fire-resistant glass installation, food processing plants, food packaging manufacturers, forensics (fingerprints, ballistics, DNA, narcotics, crashed vehicle analysis, etc), medical engineering, electronics factories, computer hardware and software, securities printing works, giant marquees, real estate, television, boardrooms, general business meetings, courts, immigration facilities, solicitors' offices, etc, etc, although in the interpreting field I now specialise in technical/industrial/scientific areas.
I also undertake other tasks, e.g.: contacting in Spanish (for example, telephoning) in most subjects, plus abstracting, proofreading and editing (including editing non-native English texts), and I am always willing to discuss other potential tasks (for example: going on site, exhibition interpreting, data room work, visiting clients/suppliers abroad, etc). |
